THRIVE Program

Su Refugio is committed to helping our 18-year-olds make a smooth transition into adulthood. This includes guidance and assistance in education, housing, and finding a local church.

As teenagers in the Children’s Home approach high school graduation, they have the freedom to choose whether to participate in the THRIVE program. The program includes:

  • Post-secondary education
  • Guidance for seeking work opportunities and a local church body
  • Mentorship and discipleship with the Transition Program Coordinator
  • Safe apartment-style housing at the Palabra de Vida campus (an extension of Word of Life) in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay

The transition from adolescence to independent adulthood is a major milestone for any young person. For a teen who has grown up in a protected environment after suffering abuse, this transition is uniquely challenging. Our staff are equipped to provide trauma-informed care at this critical point, helping these young women navigate things such as:

  • Integrating into society
  • Maintaining healthy relationships
  • Financial responsibility
  • Growing in spiritual maturity

By sponsoring a young woman in the THRIVE program, you are not only helping her to step into independent adulthood. You are also playing a part in interrupting generational patterns of poverty and abuse.
